The Easter Season

Where have I been these past few days.  EVERYWHERE!  Easter was an amazing day for our family for many reasons.  We got to be together as a family of four, it was Lillian and Trenton's first Easter, and most of all our Lord has risen...AWESOME.  We watched the little ones open their baskets and their most favorite part was the card.  They chewed on those things and crinkled them like there was no tomorrow.  They got robes, an outfit, and a noisy toy each.  Okay, I told myself our children would never have toys that make noise.  I hate them because they are loud and obnoxious.  However, I'm a momma now and they have tons of noisy toys which I have bought (minus a few).  I must give myself credit though because they are all learning, multilingual toys.  Once we got the cards and empty boxes away they truly enjoyed these toys.

Now here we are and it's Tuesday and I'm trying to figure out what happened to Monday!  We are packing and getting ready to head out of town for Florida.  This is quite the task because we are trying to fit 10 pounds of things into a 5 pound bag.  There was a lot of rearranging of the car to make sure everything fit and we could still breathe. Our first stop along the way will be in North Carolina to see my good friend Calah and her family.  It's been almost 2 years since we have seen them and a lot has happened of course.  Then on Sunday, we will make our way further south to spend a week with Chris' family.  They haven't met the babies yet so it will be a monumental moment since these are their first grandchildren/niece and nephew.  So far we plan on going to the beach, fishing and to the driving range.  I am so excited.

The Not So Good

So the past couple of days have not highlighted my good qualities.  I am not a very good patient when it comes to being sick and down.  I just assumed that nothing will get done unless I do it myself (and there are times when this just has to be) so I can't relax and get well.  So here we are going into Easter Sunday and I'm still in pain because I won't sit down.  I mean I do have dishes, laundry, cleaning, babies, bottles, poopy diapers, cooking, cleaning (oh wait I already said that one) so where is the time to be sick.  Chris has taken time off to care for me, but I'm not seeing things get down in my time...that's right I said my time, because my time is what counts!   I know totally irrational, just as long as it gets done.  However, today is not one of those days when things are getting done at all and I hate to ask to have stuff done.  The trash was overflowing all day, the laundry baskets threw up all over the nursery and the garbage disposal regurgitated dishes I didn't even know I had.  I waited as long as I could, but by 7:30 pm there is no more waiting.  I got smacked in the face by evil and all my nasty colors began to show, which actually began when I got stabbed in the back with kidney stones/infection.  Thus, my little family has seen the worst of me this week.  Yet, I remain optimistic as Christ will rise with the morning sun.

Illness is Yucky

Okay, I have to say this.  Illness sucks.  That being said, I am finding all of the good I can in being a sick mommy of two sick babies.  I have kidney stones in both kidneys as well as infection.  Trenton is still battling bronchiolitis (though it has not gotten worse, AMEN) and Lillian just has a cold.  Despite all of this I am as happy as ever.  I celebrated my 28th birthday yesterday with my wonderful husband and beautiful children...my first birthday as a mommy.  The smell of spring is in the air and the flowers are blooming.  Today we enjoyed this beautiful weather outdoors and as I sit and type this we have the patio door open.  Does it not get better than that, I ask?

Here We Go

Well, for some odd reason I felt inspired to create a blog where I can share with family and friends the joys and difficulties of being a wife and mother.  For instance, right now Trenton and Lillian (6 months) have bronchiolitis (a contagious viral infection).  As usual with the illnesses between the two of them it started with Trenton and he passed it along to Lillian.  I never knew that they are learning to share so soon.  Some days my routine is monotonous chores and all, while other days are a completely new adventure.  No matter the challenges, it's my life and I'm living it my way!
